Three Years of Living...In an RV

If you follow our blog then you know that I just finished reading a life changing book called Notes From a Blue Bike.  It is about intentional living and what that can look like in your life.  For the past few years I have been on a mission to down-scale our life.  You can read snippets of that journey with our closets, toys and bedrooms.  But, let's face it, the journey never ends.  Even with the best intentions, things slowly creep into our lives and pretty soon we feel cluttered again.

I feel cluttered.

I am back to purging things from our lives and asking hard questions about what really matters.

When will we get it right?

My only consolation - I know I am not alone and that is why I want to introduce you to a special friend today and let her tell you her story.  I met Tracey about 6 1/2 years ago when we lived in Wyoming.  I loved her the minute I met her.  She is just one of those people who takes you in and makes you feel like you have known her forever.  She and her family are also believers who live their lives and their faith to the fullest.

Even in an RV.  For over 3 years!

I will let her get started...

My 3 year Long Camping Trip with the Lord

Yes, you read that right. I was on a 3 year camping trip with the Lord. I also had my family of 6, 2 dogs (one was an English Mastiff which weighed close to 200 lbs.) and a ferret.  Before I get too far into my story let me give you some background about who we are and how this trip came about.  We are a Christian family and we are a military family.  I also homeschool our 4 children. When this all started we were stationed in New Mexico and had gotten orders to Wyoming.  My husband thought we were going to retire once his assignment was over in Wyoming so we bought a house there.  We had also bought a camper (32ft fifth wheel) which we had used for small trips about a week or so. Now this is where we start our story…

Me again!  I hope you will join us for the next few Wednesdays as Tracey shares her story.  It is an amazing one and one that I hope will give you a fresh perspective on life.  I am excited to help her share it.

Let me tell ya - if I lived in a RV for over three years, I would make sure everyone knew it.  I mean, like, "hey I am suffering and taking one for the team" kind of announcements.  Tracey did not!  I would at the very least whine and complain a lot!  Tracey did not!

Through her journey, she kept her eyes on God, followed Him, and was obedient.  Every time I talked to her she was upbeat and positive.  Not whining.  Not complaining.

And she blessed others along the way!  I know she will bless you!

See ya next Wednesday for the next part of her story!  Until then, something to consider...what is the Lord asking you to do?  Are you surrounded by too much clutter to even hear His voice?

I am asking that of myself and my family this week!

Blessings,

Here I am complaining about living in a 1100sft. house. Yikes!

    1. Me too, Melissa, except when we were in ours for extended periods of time (months, not years!) storms nearly gave me a heart attack! Every time!

  3. looking forward to this series! We are discussing some major downsizing in our family - taking steps for some drastic purging and decluttering, so this is just what I'm needing.
I haven't read the book you mentioned yet, but it's on my must read list! thank you for the recommendation.

  4. So glad I stumbled upon this today. We just started a similar journey! My family of 6 just moved into a 37ft fifth wheel. We have been since the end of Nov.2013.
