Anyone Anxious?- 52 Weeks of Family Scripture Memorization

I know that when we think of kids, the first thing we think of may not be the word anxious.  But let's face it, kids have those feelings too.  Whether it is an upcoming test, going to a new place, or even how the kids in a group are going to treat us, kids, as well as adults, can face many unknown or new situations that can potentially cause feelings of anxiety.

Just this week one of my own children was not feeling well and had the be taken quickly to the doctor- causing anxiety for the both of us.  Whether long term or simply short term, those are not good feelings.  And while there may not be a quick fix all of the time, we are told in the Bible to not be anxious.

I do think we need to be careful to explain to children that does not mean we will NEVER feel anxious.  But instead, I think, it points us to the fact that we do not need to dwell there.

Anxiety is a normal emotion, and turning it over to God should be our normal response.

Let us teach our children and ourselves to rest in God's love and protection and to give our worries to Him!

Blessings,

  1. Your words are an encouragement to discuss scripture with children--not just memorize verses but expand their thoughts on the verse. Much wisdom in that! Have a blessed weekend.

    1. Thank you Carol! We believe the memory past is the easy part- it is understanding it that we want the kids to even more!

As a child, I was very anxious, as an adult, am so thankful for the Word of God which equips me with peace instead of anxiety. Love the power of passing this along to our children. Thanks for sharing.
