Yes, it is finally gotten cooler here and you might have seen me jumping up and down! I love the cold weather! But my kids especially anticipate the cooler weather when I allow them to break out the mugs in the morning and fix a hot drink! OK, yes, usually in the evenings too. But again, in my quest not to buy prepackaged stuff, I have been collecting my own mix favorites. There is just something about scooping out your own heaping tablespoon of mix to heat with water. The kids love it and so do I. Are we saving money? Maybe not, but we are making memories and that counts for something in my book! Healthier? Maybe not, but certainly more fun!
Instant Russian Tea
21 oz. Tang
1 1/3 c. instant tea (we use decaf!)
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 pkg. lemonade mix
1 1/3 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. cloves
Mix all ingredients in glass jar. Add 2-3 tsp. to mug of hot water.
Looks like a Walmart ad! |
4 c dry milk powder
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. coffee creamer
2/3 cup cocoa powder
1 small pkg. instant chocolate pudding mix
Mix all together and store in glass jar. Add 1/2 c. mix to mug of hot water or milk.
Enjoy!

Oh my, thank you so much Jess. I am glad you enjoy my random thoughts and ramblings!! ;). Can't wait to work on the questions this afternoon. Off to school the kiddos....
DeleteYeah Fridays! ;)
I'm trying to decide on a hot cocoa mix as well!! Might have to try yours!
ReplyDeleteLet me know which one you decide on! We do really like this one.
DeleteYummy!!! Will be trying the hot chocolate mix! Thanks for the taco seasoning. It has become a new favorite in our house :)
ReplyDeleteWe like it a lot, but I am afraid I have created a monster! That canister will be empty before November! haha Glad you are enjoying the taco mix, we use it a lot! As a matter of fact, Nachos with our movie tonight using it!
DeleteOh, I love Russian Tea made with Tang -- that was my comfort food (well, comfort drink) whenever I'd get a cold. It's too bad that it's so high in sugar.
ReplyDeleteYep! I did entertain the idea of honey granules, which we use for everything else, but the kids were going to revolt I thought! ;). Maybe I will try next time and see how it tastes!
DeleteThe cocoa mix sounds great!
ReplyDeleteI grew up with both of these!!! I also gave both as Christmas gifts last year. I've never met any one else that drinks Russian Tea (or as we called it Mom's Spice Tea).
ReplyDeleteFor an extra twist on the Hot Chocolate....try the flavored coffee creamers. I like putting french vanilla creamer in ours.
Thanks for the smiles and the memories.
ohh, that sounds good Vickie! Someone else suggested cruched peppermints or cruched buttermints. Could be fun trying them all! ;)
